Laura Barrell
Practices from our Queen Charlotte Street branch.
I graduated in 2006 with a first class honours degree and spent the next two years working alongside an Orthopaedic Consultant Physiotherapist in a sports injury and orthopaedic clinic. During this time I developed a specialist interest in the lumbar spine and discovered Sarah Key, the Australian based Physiotherapist famous for her affiliation to the English Royal family. Under her I specialised in spinal rehabilitation and became an Accredited Sarah Key Physiotherapist. My interest in the subject of chronic back pain lead Sarah to invite me to assist her research and I have been able to work alongside her in Australia and assist her in writing a paper on the breakdown of the human spine.
Understanding how the spine works is the key to making a problem back work painlessly again. Your first session will include a summary report explaining what is happening in your spine and where it has gone wrong. Treatment then focuses on restoring flexibility to each segment of the spine, whilst you work each day with a back block to encourage nutrition of the discs. Ultimately strengthening work can give your back the new lease of life it needs.
