Wells Road Osteopath

Osteopathy is a safe and effective treatment method for babies and children of all ages, as well as mums-to-be throughout pregnancy.

Running on a Friday morning, this clinic is dedicated to treating babies, children and mums-to-be. Although it is never too late to treat a problem, the early years of life provide the optimum window of opportunity to fully resolve any complaints arising from the pregnancy or delivery.
Even minor problems that start at this stage will play a role in the ‘blue-print' from which our bodies grow and develop. Resolving problems at this early stage can not only make those first years more relaxed and enjoyable (for parents as well as the children) but it can prevent manifestation of future symptoms.
Too often people comment that a child has ‘grown out' of his/her symptoms when in fact they have simply grown around them and adapted to the problem.
This ability to adapt is part of what makes the human body so amazing. However it does mean that from early on the body is having to work harder than would otherwise be necessary and will have less ability to adapt to later problems - therefore in the long term they are more susceptible to injury.
At the Children's Clinic we believe in giving children the best start in life, if you think that we might be of any help with your child please get in touch.

 Does your baby/child suffer with

If so then Cranial Osteopathy may be able to help.

During the birth process the soft bones in a baby's head are designed to overlap - creating the easiest passage through mum's pelvis.
The 'shock' of a very quick delivery or the trauma of a difficult/prolonged labour can result in these soft bones not completely unlapping. This leaves the baby with areas of increased pressure or tension within the head and can easily irritate a baby's vulnerable nervous system. Each of the symptoms noted above, as well as many others, can be caused in this way.
Gently addressing these pressures - we call them strain patterns - by means of Cranial Osteopathy can resolve the problem and make for a much more content baby - and parents!

See the ‘Cranial Osteopathy' section on the website for how this works.
As well as being highly trained in treating babies your osteopath is also able to work with Mums-to-be at all stages of pregnancy to assist the body's natural changes and to help prepare the pelvis for delivery and immediately after delivery.
